Disneyland Paris & a little French road trip

Disneyland Paris & a little French road trip

A travl blog from Disneyland Paris

A personal post today as I wanted to share some of our trip to Paris.  The girls are getting pretty good at a road trip (good job as we have another one coming up that's even further!) and as long as they're plied with food and can take control of the music, they're happy!  We've visited Disneyland Paris a couple of times already when the elder two where younger, but Florence has never been so, we thought we'd better remedy that!  We made the crossing on the boat - that was first for all of them and was totally part of the adventure!  I think Disneyland speaks for itself really, no need for me to narrate (except to say that I enjoyed challenging myself to try and take a few more interesting, art-worthy shots!).  On the drive home, we detoured and travelled up the North-West coast of France, stopping at several small but very pretty villages, where the beaches were big and beautiful and the seafood was a-plenty! France, thanks for having us, we had a ball!

At Home with Baby A

At Home with Baby A

An at home lifestyle, family session with newborn baby

What do you call a group of nephews?! I don't know either, but whatever it is, I have one!  This is nephew no. 4, along with his brand new brother (no. 7!), who was a little bit grumpy the day we shot these, even though big bro tried his best to entertain him with numerous costume changes (hey, not everyone's a Marvel fan!).  My favourite way to document a new baby is to photograph the family, just as they are, as a wonderful memory of those fleeting days and long nights with a newborn!  It's gone before you know it.

30 Minutes in the Life {April 2015}

30 Minutes in the Life {April 2015}

We've been blessed recently with some very warm, sunny weather - pretty unexpected in this part of the world in April!  It's given us some glorious sunsets so when Grace (my eldest) asked me to show her how I've been experimenting with the prism, I thought we'd go out one evening together for a little lesson.  Grace is interested in photography anyway so I encourage her when she wants to use the camera, though, as this half hour turned out, with her interest lasting all of 5 minutes, I think she prefers being infront of it rather than behind!

Not quite the right way to use the prism but we both laughed a lot!

Please do follow our wonderful blog circle all the way around by heading on to the uber talented Hayley Hay Photography in Switzerland!

30 Minutes in the Life {March 2015}

30 Minutes in the Life {March 2015}

My lovely husband and I celebrated our tenth wedding anniversary in January. We knew we wanted to treat ourselves to a few days away and there was no other destination on our minds other than Italy - we spent time in Rome and Venice before the girls were born and it's where we got engaged, a little part of us belongs to Italy .  I had it in my head that my 30 Minutes for March would be shot whilst in Florence and though I took hundreds of photos, the most memorable for me are these, shot from Piazzale Michelangelo with a spectacular, panoramic view over this beautiful city. Hundreds of tourists gather here to view the sun setting and together with live music from exceptionally good buskers, it was a real party atmosphere and an evening neither of us will ever forget.

Our 30 Minutes blog group is an incredible array of talent - please do follow the circle by visiting with the awesome Cindy Cavanagh of Image421 Photography who's next up in the circle, You'll be glad you did!

My heart belongs to Firenze...

My heart belongs to Firenze...

Before our daughters were born, Lee {the husband} and I visited Italy a few times, getting engaged in Piazza San Marco, Venice so it's always been a place close to our hearts.  We've recently celebrated our tenth wedding anniversary and wanted to mark the occasion by having another Italian adventure.  Florence was next on our list of locations - our youngest daughter is named for this glorious city and it did not disappoint.  With all the history and breathtaking architecture of Rome, compacted to the size of Venice, it's the perfect combination.  We both enjoy the pace of life in Italy, it really is so easy to get caught up in the atmosphere, the locals all seem to know one another with smiles and embraces a-plenty and heading to the popular tourist locations, we indulge in a good few hours of people watching {accompanied by glasses of something chilled - well, 'When in Rome' or Florence...!).  Lee likes to cook, which is very handy for me, since I'm a disaster in the kitchen so we head out to the food market on the edge of the city where the colours and smells spark my interest, only for a different reason to his!  Four days of exploring this incredible place, eating amazing food at an almost forgotten leisurely pace, topped with sights around every corner that proved to be a veritable feast for my camera has left a mark on my heart.  I know we would both whisk the girls off to live in Italy if we could but for now, I'll be content with knowing that we will go back and we'll take our girls with us so hopefully Italy can work her magic on them too.

Has Spring Sprung?!

Has Spring Sprung?!

We have a perfect little spot just up the road from our house, where a stunning carpet of Bluebells grow every Spring.  I have lists of clients to contact this time of year, all waiting for them to bloom so we can shoot among them.  This weekend, it was gloriously warm and sunny, so we went up to the woods to check on the Bluebell progress.  It was such a welcome sight to see the girls enjoying the sun and fresh air and I can't wait for a few weeks time to get back over there and see Spring in all her glory!  If you would like a portrait shoots amongst the Bluebells, get in touch!

30 Minutes in the Life {January 2015}

30 Minutes in the Life {January 2015}

January has completely run away with me and since completing my 365 Project at the end of last month, I've found myself being really lazy with the camera.  Coupled with the cold, wet, dark weather, I've struggled with inspiration!  I took the opportunity to shoot January's 30 Minutes session whilst all three girls were at the table completing homework tasks during a wet and dreary Sunday afternoon.  Grace and Ava, the elder two are learning about Medieval England and one of their options was to learn about and  make a church or castle from this period.  Florence, not wanting to be left out in the craft session thought she would practise her pen grip and do some drawing!  So, here it is, the first 30 Minutes blog post of 2015 - What homework looks like!

Thank you so much for stopping by! Go brew a coffee and then follow our blog circle round - theres always such a wide variety of images and such talent to enjoy, starting with the always awesome Amanda Voelker Photography

Project 365

Project 365

I hadn't even contemplated attempting a 365 Project.  It was something I literally decided to do on the spur of the moment on New Years Day 2014.  My two younger girls had dressed as ballerinas and were bouncing on my bed.  I thought I'd go for it.  I thought I'd quit....

30 Minutes in the Life {December 2014)

30 Minutes in the Life {December 2014)

Firstly, a very warm welcome to my new blog!  I'm so grateful if you've come over from my old platform - thank you!  I'm really happy to be starting with a 30 Minutes in the Life post, though its shorter than usual since December is a very busy month {not only work-wise but also with Nativity plays, Christmas Shopping and Carol services!}, some of us have opted to do a 'Festive 5' instead!  Every year Santa sends our girls a message via the PNP {thats Portable North Pole to those not in the know!} to see if they've been good this year and whether they've made the Nice List!  I have to add here that Florence was not on the Nice List last year and so there has been much deliberation in our house as to wether she'd upped her game enough to make it this Christmas!  My Festive 5 is the girls reactions to their video messages from Santa!  Enjoy!
