A Wintery Family Documentary Shoot at Hylands Park
I photographed this lovely bunch two days before Christmas, proof indeed that it doesn't need to be the middle of Summer to get gorgeous, vibrant portraits! I've done several sessions recently where three generations have come along, and its just so lovely to see and capture the different bonds between family members. If you are considering a shoot like this, don't put it off any longer, I promise you its painless (you might even enjoy it!) and you'll have priceless images of the most important people in your life all in one frame! Get in touch for available 2018 dates!
December has been a month of winding down work wise and winding up to Christmas! Ava had her last Christmas school disco - she'll be in High School with Grace by the time Christmas rolls around again. Big sis did her hair. The girls are in their jammies in most of these photos and that pretty much was the mood over the festive period, we ate lots of goodies and watched lots of films but we did get out to the park for a breath of fresh air which definitely blew away the cobwebs - its freezing here!!!

Autumn Mini Sessions - Fun Filled Family Portraits in the Essex Countryside
We were SO lucky with the weather on this years Autumn Mini Sessions, pretty much everybody who came had been out and brought gorgeous hats and coats and nobody needed them in the 23 degree heat! I adore doing Mini Sessions, I see so many faces and we have to work quickly but that always adds to the fun I think and little people don't have time to get bored or tired so I end up with tonnes of fabulous images! Here's a handful of some of the gorgeous families and little ones who joined in the fun this year! Thanks so much to you all for coming, you all rock!!
Its the second time I've met with the lovely M family - the first time being last Autumn when their gorgeous third son arrived and so it was a pleasure to be returning to mark that first birthday milestone! The older boys proudly showed me their lovely garden and we did some racing, jumping and leaf throwing before heading into the house for a few more!
I have lots of lovely families who return to me every year, or when they have a new arrival and it really is a privilege to watch them grow and capture these little everyday moments. I have literally thousands of photographs of my own children and yet I still feel I could have captured more. Now my eldest is about to become a teenager, I feel that more keenly that ever. Those days of baby and toddlerhood are heady and full and can be mundane, routine but they'll be gone before you know it. I can see the beauty in the everyday, so let me capture that for you and your family. A family shoot truly is an investment for your future as a beautiful photograph can evoke such memories of a time when life was hectic but hearts were full.

An at home lifestyle session to celebrate a 1st Birthday
Back in July I spent a morning with this gorgeous little family. To commemorate a very special 1st Birthday, Baby D's Mum and Dad wanted to document them together at home and at their favourite park. I adore doing these sessions, so simple and yet so meaningful, especially in the years to come. As a Mum of three, I know these moments are fleeting, so don't hesitate to book at 'At Home' session, just to document the day to day moments, because, if not now, when?
The past month has been busy - the girls broke up from school for Summer (though you would'nt think it was Summer by the awful weather we've had in the last two weeks!), I turned the big 40 and Lee also had a birthday. Ava has turned our back garden into her dance studio and has spent many hours out there perfecting her routines! Lee wanted to go into London for his birthday so we drove into the city and visited the Natural History Museum - we fancied seeing Hope, the new Blue Whale in the entrance hall after watching a documentary on how they replaced the Diplodocus with her, she was awesome! Head on across the pond to the marvellous Colie James to see what the last month looked like for her!
An Essex Sunset Pre Wedding Family Shoot
I met up with Ellie & Neil on a sweltering June evening so I could meet their two little girls and quell any nerves about getting their photos taken before the big day in August. They are lucky enough to live a few minutes walk from some very pretty countryside and so we made the most of that, plus some incredible evening light! The girls were wonderful, very happy to relax and have fun with me and Ellie & Neil were not bad either!! I think you'll agree what a gorgeous bunch they are and I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to capturing their festival wedding at the end of the Summer!
So Summer. So far, so good! We've been treated to some incredibly hot weather - if you live in the UK, Summer does'nt always equal sun! The girls have two weeks left until the end of the school year and I'm looking forward to lazy mornings, late evenings, great sunsets and celebrating a milestone birthday for me (I've been ignoring it for months, but now its upon me, I'm going to embrace it and welcome in a new decade with open arms!). We've already taken advantage of our gorgeous fields and had sunset walks before the harvest comes, we loved our annual school fete where the girls got in the festival vibe and had their faces painted and sparkled! And our pool has been out for weeks now, getting more use than all the other years put together I think and Grace has terrorised the boys next door with the water gun!

So this month has literally flown by in a blur of weddings but we still managed to squeeze in a four day mini break in Norfolk over the girls half term holiday so the last 5 images of my 10 in June are my favourites from then. The first five from the beginning of the month I feel were us really embracing the beginning of the warmer weather, enjoying our favourite outdoor seafood restaurant, enjoying the glorious spring blooms on our doorstep, and me, definitely enjoying the return of late evening sunshine! Thats it now, come on Summer we've missed you so!

Spring Family Portrait Shoot in Essex Park
I first photographed this little trio last summer so it was just lovely to see them again, they've grown! I love that by shooting outdoors (or indeed at home), without the confines of a studio, I can always get my little customers to relax very quickly and enjoy exploring their surroundings. Guaranteed to capture Portraits with Personality - after all, I truly do believe, Real is Awesome!
Family At Home Lifestyle session for Baby Girls 1st Birthday
I can't express how much I love shooting 'at home' sessions for families with babies and younger children and none more so than when its for returning clients like this lovely lot who were celebrating a certain little girls First Birthday! Young children in their own environment relax into the session so quickly and provide an element of chaos from their unpredictable natures thats hard to replicate. Each session is different and I love to see where they lead!
A Family session on a stunning Autumn day
The Charles Family wanted an Autumn shoot, hoping for a crisp, clear day so they could dress up in stylish layers and get some colourful shots and we totally lucked out! It doesn't have to be the middle of Summer to achieve great outdoor portraits. Autumn lends the most wonderful light and as the sunsets earlier in the day, you don't have to wait until late evening to capture the perfect golden hour! I love it when larger family groups come along to a session, its really sweet to see the relationships between siblings, cousins and each family unit so, if you are thinking about enquiring, why not ask Mum & Dad or maybe the in-laws if they want to join in?!
Come follow me, I'd love to have you on board!
