Melanie and Richard's big day was to be my last wedding of 2014 and I couldn't have been more excited about rounding up the year with this intimate ceremony at the stunning Hylands House in Chelmsford. A week before Christmas, the day dawned cold and crisp and clear - a perfect winters day! I met the Bride at Hylands, where she and her bridesmaids (including Melanie and Richard's gorgeous little daughter) were getting ready in the perfectly minimal Bridal Suite and after a few portraits, it was down to the Drawing Room for the ceremony. I found Richard, calm and in good spirits and all the guests were seated to await Melanie. The ceremony was truly a family affair, with the couples daughter wanting to be a big part of it and Richard's son doing a fabulous job as ring bearer. Once declared Husband and Wife, I whisked the newlyweds outside just as the sun was setting beautifully over the horizon, followed by drinks and canapés in the plush Banqueting Room where they were congratulated by their guests. Before the family prepared to journey to the airport to fly off to Scotland, we nipped outside for a few night portraits, making the most of the impressive frontage at Hylands House! A gorgeous winter wedding to end what has been a fantastic year for me and huge congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs Hush!
